Innovative Work
As part of our B.Ed curriculum we are expected to prepare an innovative work. So I have taken the topic "Phrasal Verbs" in order to familiarize the topic with the students. Phrasal verbs are group of words that functions as a verb and is made up of a verb and a preposition, an adverb or both. Phrasal verb is a vast topic so I have chosen some commonly used phrasal verbs in my work.
In my final class with 8.B, I introduced an innovative lesson on "Phrasal Verbs," designed to make learning both engaging and enjoyable. I used a spinning wheel with selected phrasal verbs like "take off," "go on," "look after," "put off," "keep on," "run out," "let in," and "make up." As the wheel spun, anticipation built among the students. When the wheel landed on a phrasal verb, the chosen student would act out its meaning, and the rest of the class would guess the correct verb. This interactive method turned what could have been a dry topic into a lively and competitive session, with students eagerly participating and helping each other understand the meanings.
The classroom buzzed with excitement as the students threw themselves into the activity. One student, after the wheel stopped at "take off," mimicked an airplane soaring into the sky, prompting the class to shout out the correct phrasal verb in unison. Another student, acting out "run out," pretended to be in a desperate search for something, causing laughter and quick guesses. The energy in the room was infectious, and it was heartening to see even the quieter students come out of their shells. The lesson not only reinforced their understanding of phrasal verbs but also left us all with fond memories of a fun and interactive learning experience.
